Spinal stenosis

Dear Readers,

In this week’s newsletter from Orthomedical India,  we will be covering a aspect which is the most common cause of back pain –Spinal Stenosis.  Also, this week’s blog has the discount codes for our selected products as part of our Diwali/ Deepavali offers to our subscribers.

Spinal stenosis is a condition where the spinal canal narrows as a result of normal wear-and-tear effects of aging. The most common cause of spinal stenosis is Arthritis. In the spine, arthritis can result as the disk degenerates and loses water content. In children and young adults, disks have high water content. As we get older, our disks begin to dry out and weaken. This problem causes settling, or collapse, of the disk spaces and loss of disk space height.

As the spine settles, two things occur. First, weight is transferred to the facet joints behind the spinal cord. Second, the tunnels that the nerves exit through become smaller. As the facet joints experience increased pressure, they also begin to degenerate and develop arthritis, similar to the hip or knee joint.

Disk Dr.WG 30 Back treatment and Support belt provides a solution to spinal stenosis and this has been extensively tested. The 36 0f strong air pillars of the Disk Dr. produces traction in the  intervertebral disc and expand the distance vertically to reduce pressure in each of the lumbar vertebrae and thus relieve pain. The powerful air pillars come into close contact with the back, raise it, and create an intervertebral space of an average of 3 mm.

In this weeks’ blog from Orthomedical India, we shall discuss Cervical disc, a very common form of neck ailment these days and traction therapy as a treatment option for it. This discussion is based on inputs from Cleveland. Cervical disc is caused by an abnormality in one or more discs, the cushions that lie between the neck bones (vertebrae). When a disc is damaged, due to arthritis or an unknown cause, it can lead to neck pain from inflammation or muscle spasms. In severe cases, pain and numbness can occur in the arms from nerve irritation or damage.

While pain relievers, physical therapy, neck traction, and as a last resort, surgery, can help ease neck pain from cervical disc disease. In this context of physical therapy and neck traction therapy, it would be worthwhile do discuss the treatment and pain relief provided by Disk Dr. Disk Dr. neck traction device is recommended for neck pain relief, herniated cervical disc, neck traction therapy, neck treatment and  radiculopathy.

Disk Dr. Neck is an ambulatory traction device which helps to reduce intra-discal pressure by relieving neck pain and assisting patient recovery using innovative expansion system. Traction device – Disk Dr. Neck has patented vertical expansion air pads on the rear. This is a unique mechanism that greatly eases pain and helps patient’s recovery.

Scientifically proven benefits have been identified with only 2 or 3 times of daily use with the appropriate pressure for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Studies carried out since 1995 by Orthopaedic Surgery Departments at both Inje University Seoul and Sanggye Paik Hospital show that approximately 85% of patients experienced an improved condition within 3 days of using the Disk Dr. Neck.

There are also simple lifestyle measures which can accentuate the traction therapy of Disk Dr. Neck.

Take It Easy :

If you’re living with cervical disc disease and have increased neck pain from injury or muscle pain, it’s important to temporarily ease back on intense activities. While you are resting, find a comfortable position — one that causes you the least amount of neck pain. .Stretch:

Once you are feeling well enough and your doctor gives permission, practice stretching exercises to both relieve neck pain and improve your flexibility.
Here is one simple stretch exercise for cervical disc disease that you can do at home: Slowly turn your head to the left. With your left hand, apply very light tension on your chin so that your head turns slightly more. Hold for 20 seconds and return your head slowly to centre. Repeat on the right side.Move It:

Research is showing that exercise is an effective way to treat neck pain. Thirty minutes of aerobic exercise (walking, biking, swimming) every day can improve blood flow, nourishing your spine to keep it healthy.

Get Out of Your Slump:
Bad posture is a major contributor to neck pain. Think about your posture every time you are sitting, standing, or lifting. Always try to keep your head and neck straight and make sure your back is supported.
